Question:

Do you think the message in Maugham's story is the same as or different from the message in the Aesop fable of the ant and the grasshopper? Explain.

I think that the message in Maugham's story is way different than the message from Aesop Fable's story. In the story written by Maugham the moral is that we should live for today without worrying about the future because we don't know what the future has for us, but in contrast the moral from Aesop's story is that we should save for the future, in other words, we should be more focus in what might happen in the future than in the Present. In my believe i agree with Maugham's story for certain reasons. The first reason is like i said before, we don't know if we have a bright future ahead of us or don't so we should let it be the future. Also i think that as humans we should live for today not for tomorrow because at the end of the day we always end up regretting not having done things that we could have done  in the past because we were to focus in thinking about the future.Hence, we have to live the for the present and let the future be the future because we don't know if we might die  tomorrow.
